| GLOSSY
SURFACE |
| This
is a good effect
for the surface
of an interface
or for anything
you want to give
a glossy shine to. |
|
Step one: First
create a shape on its own
layer.
Step two: Open the "Styles" palette.
Apply the glass blue button
by clicking on the icon shown.
Step
three: Open
the Layer Styles dialog box
by clicking on the "f" icon
in the objects layer. Highlight
the Inner Glow effect on the
left side of the dialog box,
and change only the settings
under Quality. From here,
you will be simply making
changes to the Style you just
applied.
Step four: Under Bevel & Emboss,
change the Gloss Contour curve
to the setting shown here.
Step five: Below the Bevel &
Emboss checkbox, you will
see the Contour checkbox.
Hightlight Contour, and change
the Elements contour setting
shown to the right.
Step six: Select the Outer Glow
checkbox to add an outer glow
to create a faint outline
around the surface should
you need to create separation
from the object and the back-ground.
Use the settings to the right.
Step seven: To add some depth to the
effect, I applied the Satin
effect. Using the default
settings seemed to suffice.
Step eight: As a final touch, I gave
the shape a Drop Shadow. Drop
shadows are always nice touches.
Of course, you can always
change the color by changing
the default color of the style.
