Layer mask and
pressure sensitive

Step
1: We'll start by opening
our two images, and doing
a quick drag-and-drop of the
football onto the face. (You
can also select all, copy
and paste the football, but
it's not as fast-- or as elegant.)

Step
2: To create a layer mask,
click on the box at the bottom
of the Layers palette with
the circle in it, or you can
select Layer--Add Layer Mask--Reveal

Step
3: Now just paint black in
the layer mask with the airbrush
and make the football disappear.

Step
4: Here's where the layer
mask really shows its power.
Switch you background and
foreground colors by typing
the letter x, and paint back
in what you just erased. And,
unlike the History brush,
you can go back in the next
day and futz with it some
more. |

5: And here's where the Intuos
Pen starts to really crank.
Make sure you have "Pressure"
selected, and you have an
incrediblStep 6: Now grab
the rubber stamp tool--also
pressure-sensitive, thanks
to your Intuos Pen. A little
cloning around the ears to
get rid off that unsightly
'hairy football head' look,
and you're done. e amount
of control. Simply press harder
for a more transparent layer,
or press softly to feather
the football into the man's
head. (If you set the DuoSwitch
for the letter x, you can
switch background and foreground
with a gentle roll of your
finger.) |
